Troy is a Parrsboro Home Boy,Born in Ottawa, Ont. but grew up here & completed his education and graduated in 1988 from Parrsboro Reginal High. Everyone in town knows him or at least knows of him & his family (Smiths)&(Melansons). Troy has been a cook here in Parrsboro at the Stowaway & Pier Restaurants(now known as the Harbourview Resaurant) as well as many other businesses in town while growing up and then went into the Armed Forces until he was honorably released and then continued on with many other skilled trades in Amherst and other areas such as: bartender, waiter, security, patron control, supervisor, skilled construction worker, concrete finisher, heavy equipment operator, foreman & cook until going into the trucking industry as a tractor trailer driver until becoming a shipping and receiving/inventory clerk & supervisor at Oxford Frozen Foods and a Business Owner in Parrsboro since 2005. Troy has lived all across Canada but mainly in Nova Scotia especially in good old Cumberland County & has travelled across the United States as well.
Crystal was a Springhill cutie growing up and living there most of her life with family (McMaster) there and also from Economy (Kennie)until becoming a Parrsboro Cutie in which is well liked and known for her column in The Parrsboro Springhill Record (Crystal's Corner News for Parrsboro and area. She is now, of coarse, also a Taxi Driver/Owner since 2005 for the town that she now considers home... "Parrsboro". She is also known very well for her cake decorating with Licensed & Custom made cakes & some wedding cakes too!! The business name is: "Crystal's Creations" -All Occasion Cakes. She completed her schooling in Springhill high and Springhill Community College. She has a high school diploma with honors from S.H.S. A certificate in Retail Merchandising with honors and a diploma in Psychology/Social Work also with also honors from the Stratford Career Institute from Ontario. Most will know her from Foodland Springhill as Deli Manager/cake decorator/cashier and now they know her as Parrsboro's Good Looking Cabbie (my husband wrote this was obviously was trying to score brownie points) & Writer & Cake Maker & Decorator. Crystal is an avid reader, thinker and optimist. She is also an aspiring writer in poetry and hopes to become a notable author in the future. She currently has several works in progress as of 2006. Keep an eye out in 2007or 2008, hopefully there will be several of her projects released to the public for them to enjoy.
We first met in 1994 and it was love at first sight for both of us. We have lived in Amherst, Parrsboro (lambs hill years ago), Springhill, Tidnish, and now lives again in Parrsboro(Lighthouse rd. - Was Packet Wharf rd.) On my family's land (Smith's Property) in our New Home... we moved in on our property in May of 2004.
We had a wonderful baby boy (Troy Jr.) in March 1995 but unfortunatly lost him to SIDS when he was 3 months old on June 1995. This was a most difficult time for us & still is, but we have kept strong through all the pain & still have to (Day By Day). Troy & I do have two wonderful kids from Troy's previous marriage Brittany & Jacob Melanson who come down regularly to stay with us. When our grandmother (Troy's-Inez M. Smith) passed away Dec. 5th 2002 was also very hard on us but will always be remebered with the sweetest of memories.
Then my mother (Natalie Smith) gave us the piece of land my grandmother left to her for my birthday. We then knew we wanted to live here again in Parrsboro and start a business which has been a dream of ours for a long time.
We have been here since 2004 (Had a cottage first in 2003 but soon built a new home) and have been there ever since we started a taxi service for the Parrsboro & Surrounding Areas which was greatly needed.
Troy also does various computer work with photo publishing, design and has designed and maintained this website & has since started new projects.
We love it here and plan on being around for a long time and hopefully our service will be a benifit for the town and area as we love it here and enjoy our business and especially the people of the town & surrounding areas too. We all have a great town and and surrounding area which all have so much potential... So lets keep Parrsboro and the surrounding area alive... Remember Please! ....."Parrsboro Rocks" & we are a small town with a big heart too!
