"UN: Rising sea levels threaten Fundy coast"

March 16th, 2009.
Canada's environment minister will be looking into potential problems for major flooding along the Bay of Fundy coastline.
Nova Scotia MP Bill Casey says he has raised concerns with Jim Prentice given that the United Nations Panel on Global Warming identified the Bay of Fundy as one of the most vulnerable in North America.
The report said the area could be severely damaged due to rising sea levels resulting from global warming.
Casey says Prentice is trying to identify resources to assess the vulnerability of the Bay of Fundy shoreline.
He told the minister about the damage caused by severe storms in the Advocate area last December and in Truro and Bible Hill during the past few years.

"Public Meeting at the Parrsboro fire hall"
The Town of Parrsboro will be presenting it's draft of the Strategic Plan for the Future of Parrsboro.
The meeting is at the fire hall on Willow Street and is on Wednesday August 27th,2008 starting at 7pm.
All are Welcome & encouraged to come!!!
*** In the fall of 2006, the Town Council of Parrsboro indicated a need for a Strategic Plan in order to ensure future prosperity and sustainable growth for the Town. This plan would complement the Municipal Planning Strategy which was prepared for the Town in May 2007. These planning activities are intended to give Parrsboro clear direction and guidance with regards to future growth and development, and more specifically, direction in relation to the significant Tidal Power Project that is in the planning and development stages. As with any Strategic Plan this is to be considered a "living document" which may require periodic revisions as part of the ongoing monitoring process. The Strategy is intended to serve as a guide to ensure the efforts of the community are focused and provide maximum benefit relevant to the Vision Statement.

And:

Compliments of: Dal Hutchinson - Photo's on Special Pictures Page 2 of A 425 + lbs seal that made its way 12 kms north of town on edge of highway. It took two DFO officers, the member working, myself and a farmer over an hour to get this vicious beast in a tarp and transport it to town where it was release a half hour ago in to the bay. Had to be transported in bucket of tractor. It's not every day you get to be so close to one of these creatures. It was quite interesting to see.. Quoted by Dal

New Fire truck is Parrsboro-bound finally...
January 30th/08.
Parrsboro has ordered its new fire truck.
With a price tag of about $240,000, the new truck is being constructed by Metalfab of Centreville, N.B., with an estimated time of delivery between August and October of this year, Coun. Gleneida Canning reported at the Jan. 22 monthly session of town council.
The money had been set aside by the town, and should not require any borrowing, according to Mayor Doug Robinson.

** It's finally happened!**
Canada has now formed it's very own womens National Hockey League!
This is something that alot had hoped for but never thought they would see it happen. How exciting it will be to see televised games and see the progress of womens' hockey in Canada and hopefully world wide. We all hope everyone understands the importance of this step and supports this group of amazing athletes as the league grows in numbers. Maybe our womens hockey should plan a trip to go and watch a game? Wouldn't that be fun!
